Operation and maintenance (O&M) of biogas and biomethane plants

We run the plant on behalf of its owners: operators on site, standard procedures, planned maintenance and the numbers to the owners every day.

A biogas plant is an industry, and it should be run like one. With procedures, clear responsibilities and numbers checked every day.

FAR.E Energy runs plants on behalf of their owners. It does not own plants and does not sell technology: it works only on the plant's results.

What it includes

Running and maintaining the plant, from the feedstock yard to spare parts

We take on the daily work with a way of working that stays: every activity has a procedure, every procedure has an owner, every result is measured.

  • Operators on site with standard procedures, the same for every shift
  • Feedstock yard, loading and feedstock storage
  • Every load traced in Methan.IQ, from a phone
  • Preventive maintenance with a quarterly plan
  • Critical spare parts in stock and emergency procedures
  • Daily report to the owners

How we work

An industrial cycle, applied to biogas

Our technical core comes from Oil & Gas and large industrial groups. We bring the same method to the plants, one step at a time, with changes you can verify in the numbers.

  • Plan. With the owners we set goals and indicators, starting from the cost per cubic metre of methane, and who is responsible for what
  • Execute. The team works to standard procedures: loading, yard, checks and planned maintenance
  • Measure. Loads, deliveries and production are recorded on the spot and compared with the plan
  • Correct. When a number drifts we act, and every action stays documented
  • Improve. At regular intervals we review recipe, procedures and goals
The FAR.E Group method

A real case

Full management of an agricultural biogas plant

We ran a biogas plant end to end, from the feedstock yard to maintenance, with our own operators on site. We brought the yard in-house with standard procedures, introduced preventive maintenance and redesigned the recipe around the cost per cubic metre of methane. Feedstock cost fell from about €680,000 to about €360,000 a year.

  • New indicator: cost per Nm³ of methane, tracked every day
  • Yard brought in-house, every load traced: this is where Methan.IQ was born
  • Quarterly maintenance plan and critical spare parts in stock

Frequently asked questions

Operations and O&M: frequently asked questions

Do you run biogas and biomethane plants on behalf of third parties?

Yes. FAR.E Energy runs plants on behalf of their owners, with operators on site, standard procedures, preventive maintenance and a report every day. FAR.E Group does not own plants.

What does operation and maintenance (O&M) include?

Operators with standard procedures, management of the feedstock yard, loading and storage, every load traced in Methan.IQ, preventive maintenance with a quarterly plan, critical spare parts in stock and emergency procedures.

Who makes the decisions about the plant?

The owners. We bring method, tools and control of the numbers; decisions stay with whoever owns the plant.

Does FAR.E Group replace the plant team?

No. We work with the owners and the plant team: the field follows defined procedures, the owners and the asset manager decide on the numbers.

Are you tied to a plant builder or a technology?

No. FAR.E Group is an independent technology operator: it does not own plants and does not sell plants or machinery.

How do the owners get the numbers?

Through a daily email report: production, load against prescription and deliveries against forecast, recorded on the spot in Methan.IQ.
