At a biogas plant we ran, some feedstocks that looked cheap had very low yields: at the same price, their methane cost up to ten times more. We redesigned the recipe starting from the cost per cubic metre of methane.

It is the management of the biomass that feeds the digester: choice of feedstock, supply contracts, incoming quality and recipe. FAR.E Group judges it on the cost per cubic metre of methane produced, not on the price per tonne. By reviewing recipe and procurement we identify between €150,000 and €500,000 per year in lower feedstock cost per plant.

What is Methan.IQ?

Methan.IQ is the platform operators use to record loads, deliveries and checks from a phone, while the owners receive a daily report on the plant. It is available as a monthly subscription per plant, including for plants that run their own operations.

Does FAR.E Group replace the plant team?

No. We work with the owners and the plant team: the field follows defined procedures, the owners and the asset manager decide based on the numbers.
